Title: Spain national (type D) Visa rights Post by: cortesinv on January 06, 2011, 05:51:12 pm As a US citizen, I have applied for a Spanish national type D visa for permanent residency. Assuming that I have been granted said visa how does that effect my rights to 90 days within 180 to travel in other Schengen countries? I assume the time I spend in Spain does not use any of that allotment of days...
Title: Re: Spain national (type D) Visa rights Post by: danisara on January 11, 2011, 03:02:16 pm If you have Spanish residency, than you should be able to travel to any other Schengen country. In case your Spanish residency time counted towards the 90/180 rule, you would not be able to travel anywhere outside Spain which would be against the concept of the European visa. The clock for the 90/180 rule should start counting at the moment when you cross the border to other Schengen country.
