Title: Visa from Italian embassy, but Switzerland is the first port of entry
Post by: mai moaaz on February 19, 2012, 12:07:17 pm
i am Egyptian i am planning to go to Switzerland from London (that i have visa for UK) but my schengen visa was appointed to be taken from embassy of Italy because my first plan was to visit Italy first
now i will not visit Italy in this trip but still i want to go to Switzerland that i know it is a schengen country and it will be my port of entry to Europe after visiting London. i also may go after Switzerland to Austria
is this possible? to take the visa from a country and then enter Europe from another country?
or should i go to the Switzerland embassy instead?
thanks a lot in advance

It depends on what is says on the visa itself. If it says "etats schengen" on the "valid for" line, then the visa would entitle you to travel to any country in the Schengen zone. If the visa was issued for a particular country, then you would be limited to traveling to that country only.
