Title: Schengen Visa refusal
Post by: MAK on April 11, 2016, 08:24:47 pm
Hello I would appreciate some help in my issue. I live in the UK but am a Pakistani National. I have visited Europe twice before on a Schengen Visa the last visa having been issued in August 2015 for 5 months. I applied to Sweden again for a visit to Stockholm with my family and flying back via Barcelona. All the documentation was in order. When the passports were returned my wife and children got a months visa each. But I was refused a visa on the grounds that one or more Schengen countries considered me a threat to their internal security or public health and thus refused. I spoke to the Swedish embassy in London and they told me that it's usually a case of mistaken identity and that someone with the same name and date of birth had a criminal record somewhere and is usually corrected on appeal when they try to match the data bases. I appealed along with a police clearance certificate from the UK hoping that the decision would be overturned. It went to a court who surprisingly upheld the decision. I still have another chance to appeal.
I do not hold any convictions anywhere over the world and am well travelled. I feel that due to ongoing security situation I have probably been profiled as a potential threat. I am thinking of hiring a lawyer in Sweden who could possibly mount a challenge to the decision. I am not really worried about the visa but the grounds given are of serious nature and I want my name cleared.
Has anyone got any experience or suggestions?

Priya, you might have better luck applying at some other country's embassy.
