Hey guys. I really need help on this one. Just for reference sake, I am Canadian.

I first entered Schengen area (via Denmark) on April 17th. I was there for a couple of weeks, and returned again in July for a couple of weeks leaving on July 22nd. In total, I stayed about 30 days out of the allowed 90 days. I believe the 180 day period ended on Oct. 13th.

Then, I re-entered Schengen (this time via Norway) on Oct. 16th. Has the 180 day period started fresh now?  Do I get the full 90 days to stay here beginning now and ending January 13th?

I also heard that I am supposed to be out of of the Schengen zone for 90 days before the beginning of a new 180 day period?  (if the latter is true, why did the authorities let me into the country given I didn’t wait 90 days after Oct. 13th. to re-enter the Schengen zone?

My main question is this: do I get the full 90 days (beginning Oct. 16th) to stay in Schengen area?

No, it works differently.

Today, it is November 2nd, 2016. November 2nd, 2016, less 180 days gets you to May 6th, 2016. How many days within this period have you spent in the Schengen zone? Is it more than 90 days? If yes, you have to get out today.

Tomorrow, it is November 3rd, 2016. November 3rd, 2016, less 180 days gets you to May 7th, 2016. How many days within this period have you spent in the Schengen zone? Is it more than 90 days? If yes, you have to get out tomorrow.

And so on.... The 180 days is a moving period, it shifts every day by one day.
