Title: Can directory listing hurt your pagerank?

Everyone is crazy about adding their website into as many directories as possible. I saw some conflicting opinions about this. Some experts say it can hurt. Your thoughts?

It depends. Good and reputable directories count. Include a link to your site in DMOZ, and you are a king. Bad directories hurt. Google likes all the good quality inbound links and penalizes for bad links.

That's correct. List in only good directories. Avoid link farms at all costs. I have seen situations where removing a link from a dir actually helped page rank.
