Title: How to tax economic stimulus rebate check
Post by: danisara on January 27, 2009, 01:49:28 pm
I received the economic stimulus rebate check for $600 in May 2008. Do I need to report it on my April 2009 tax return? And if yes, where and how? Do I need to pay taxes on the economic stimulus rebate check I got last year?
Thanks.

No need to worry about it at all. The rebate was a credit to your taxes that was given to you in advance. The rebate is not taxable on your 2008 tax return, and it does not even need to be reported as income.

It is not taxed at all. No need to even report it anywhere.
