My tax advisor was telling me I need to file form 2290. What is it for, plz? Where do I get one? The Form 2290 is called "Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax Return". In general, tax is paid on vehicles with a taxable gross weight of 55,000 pounds or more which are used for business and used on highways. The tax is a flat fee based on vehicle weight, for example $100 for 55,000 pounds vehicle, $122 for 55,001-56,000 pounds vehicle.
