Title: I may have posted this already...Questions on Schengen form
Post by: Fink on June 11, 2010, 10:56:05 pm
Hello, I have an Italian Consulate meeting in less than four days, and I still have questions on filling out this form - so any answers are appreciated. I am traveling for Study Abroad purposes.

*Number 23 says "Member state of first entry." If I have a layover in Germany during my flight to Italy, would I put "Germany" as my response to #23?

*Question number 25 says, "Duration of the intended stay or transit. Indicate number of days" What exactly does this mean?

* I will come back to America for Christmas time, and then return to Italy for the second semester of school. Considering this, should I put my "Intended date of of departure from the Schengen area" (#29) as the day I leave for Christmas or the day I leave next spring?

* I am waiting to receive information regarding my housing from the school I am attending. If I do not know before next week Monday the details of my accommodations, what would the appropriate answer be for number 31 ("Surname and first name of the inviting persons in the members states. If not applicable, name of hotels or temporary accommodations in the member states")?

# I will be paying some of the way for my school year, as well as my father, and student loans that I have taken out. What then is the appropriate answer for number 33 ("Cost of traveling and living during the applicant's stay is covered") ?

Thank you for any answers you may have!

Do you leave the airport for the night and go to the hotel, or do you just stay at the airport when waiting for the connecting flight from Germany to Italy? In case you leave the airport, then Germany.

*Question number 25 says, "Duration of the intended stay or transit. Indicate number of days" What exactly does this mean?
For how long do you expect to stay in Italy? One month? One semester? 2 years? Estimate the number of days before you leave Italy and return to your home.

Next spring. The "Intended date of of departure from the Schengen area" determines your visa validity. If you entered Christmas time, you would get only 6 month visa.

* I am waiting to receive information regarding my housing from the school I am attending. If not applicable, name of hotels or temporary accommodations in the member states")?
You already have some documentation from the school, right? Paid tuition receipt? Entry exams? Application? Acceptance letter? You can use that as a proof of your study stay. In case you already exchanged some emails with that school in regards to housing, print those emails out and bring them to the meeting with you.

# I will be paying some of the way for my school year, as well as my father, and student loans that I have taken out. What then is the appropriate answer for number 33 ("Cost of traveling and living during the applicant's stay is covered") ?
"by the applicant himself/herself"
Your father is the same like you. You would check "by the sponsor" if for example your US employer paid your tuition.

Hello, if Italy is your main destination, enter Italy. Provide the estimate of a number of days in Italy.
