My mother has a Schengen from the French Embassy in India. She is now holidaying in the UK, but would like to use her Schengen to travel through Germany, Switzerland and France. The question is: she would like to start her travel in Germany or Switzerland (and then work her way up to France), but is not 100% sure if that is ok, because she was made to believe that if she chooses to use her Schengen visa, she has to first enter the Schengen area via France (the Embassy which issued the Schengen in the first place). Is this true? Does she have to make her first stop to get into the Schengen area in France? Thanks, Icegirl Title: Re: First port of call with French Schengen Post by: porsche on June 07, 2011, 03:47:13 pm If her visa is from France, then France needs to be her main destination (usually measured by length of stay) and not the first point of entry. Many people confuse this. Here is a help thought: If you travel to France by car from for example Russia, which country is your first point of entry, is it France or some other country? If your thought from your post was correct, Russians travelling by car would be unable to ever legally go to France with a French Schengen visa.
