Title: PLEASE HELP! Is it better to appeal when visa refusal or to just re apply?
Post by: Nicole on July 22, 2011, 12:39:25 pm
I am a dominican republic citizen, female, I applied for a business visa at the switzerland's embassy in moscow (where I reside at the moment and for the next 6 months...studying russian language with a student visa) and it was refused. My business invitation is from a big important company in switzerland and the letter of invitation was written directly by the company's ceo, so I don't understand how could my visa application could have been refused.
I have been told I have 30 days to appeal. Does appealing ever works? Or should apply again for the visa?
Please help

The appeal process varies from country to country. If it says on the denial that you have 30 days period to appeal, then it is a clue for you about what you should do. It is possible that a new application would not even be accepted before the appeal period is out. No worry to go through the appeal process, there is a reason for its existence. By going through the schengen visa appeal process, you are practically getting your case forwarded to someone else for review who might revert the previsous decision.
