Title: Schengen 90/180 for U.S citizen
Post by: davidmn on February 18, 2015, 12:53:02 am
Hopefully someone can help me with this!

I traveled to Italy from the United States on Dec 19th (day 1 of 180) and stayed until Jan 26th, a total of 40 days. If I plan on returning for the summer from May 29th (my 162nd day of 180, since my arrival in Dec) to Aug 25th, a total of 90 days. Does the period start again once I reach my 180th day in June while I'm in Italy? or does it mean I'm over staying?

Thanks!!

Hi. The 180-days period does not start and end on any specific date, nor is "reset" on any date, it is rather a moving time frame. See here for a sample 90/180 visa rule calculation:

Hopefuly, explanation provided on that page gives you an idea on how to count the days. Cheers.
