Title: Schengen Visa after having the Long Term Residence Permit Post by: wanritsu on August 12, 2015, 11:57:25 am Hi everyone!
First of all I have a Malaysian passport. So if I understand correctly I should be able to stay in schengen area for 90 days visa free. So this is my situation. I am a student and my 1-year long term residence permit will end on the 30th of August this year. However, I will have my last exam on the 10th of September. I went back to Malaysia for holidays earlier this month and plan to come back to Prague on the 26th of this month (note :before my long term residence permit ends) to complete my exams and graduate. I would expect to leave Prague for good by the end of October. My questions are: 1) Is there a possibility that I am violating the 90/180 rule? To be honest I dont really get it but as I understand, the 180 days will be reset after I change from entry with long term residence permit to visa free entry. 2) What should I expect at the airport? 3) Would I need to show proof that I will return to Malaysia? 4) What about insurance? Thank you so much for your time! You might need to prove your long-term residence permit upon your return to Malaysia, i.e. upon leaving the Czech Republic (border control may suspect that you are returning not as a tourist but rather illegally overstayed your long-term residence permit).

Hello, Thank you sooooo much for the reply. So from my understanding of your post, I might have problems when I will be leaving Czech Republic for good during October, BUT not when I am trying to enter Czech Republic from Malaysia on the 26th of this month (before my long term residence permit is ended)? If so, how do I prove that I am not intentionally prolonging my stay? |
