Banned from Schengen Zone but i am a UK citizen

Hello, I have been banned from the Schengen Zone despite the fact i have a UK passport. 2 years ago whilst traveling around Europe i was caught with marijuana in Norway. I was held for 2-3 hours paid a fine and left. Around 8 months later i visited Portugal. upon entry i was escorted to a private room and informed that i had been banned from the Schengen Zone. However! I am a EU citizen and allowed to travel freely as i want so they simply let me in and told me that this would most likely happen each time my passport was scanned. Whenever i travel in the EU (which is quite frequently) I am always worried they will scan my passport and hold me up at the airport for 15 or so minutes whilst they understand the mistake. This is quite embarrassing and i never know how they will respond.
My questions is. WHAT SHOULD I DO!
also when i was fined in Norway they gave me absolutely no indication that this would ever happen.
WHO do i appeal too?

You need to have corrected information on your file, to have the ban on entry parameter corrected. Information about travelers is contained within so called VIS system (The European Union Visa Information System - a database containing information, including biometrics, on visa applications). Information is centrally stored in a database located in Strasbourg. The bodies having access to VIS are embassies, police authorities from member states (that is also border control), and the Europol. The EU Agency for large-scale IT systems, euLISA, is responsible for the operational management of VIS (www.eulisa.europa.eu). So, to correct yout information in the system, you might try contacting these two agencies, the euLISA and the Norwegian embassy. Let us know the progress of your case.
