Passport control location

I am flying from brindisi (italy) to USA via zurich and london.  My question is "where is passport control carried out to ensure scehegen compliance?"  Any response will be appreciated

It depends on how the traffic from the airplane is routed. There is surely a control in London as that is the place where you cross the Schengen border, but the traffic might be routed in Zurich through such control as well. Once I was travelling through Munich, and even though the travel was within the Schengen zone, people from my airplane still had to go through the passport control (which theoretically should be only upon leaving/entering the Schengen zone). I guess it primarily depends on where the aircraft is parked, where there is an available spot, the aircraft might be parked at an international terminal even though you fly domestic only, then you are routed through the passport control.

Steve. Thanks for the input. To clarify, i am staying in Italy and i will exceed my 90 day allowance by 6 days.  My return trip to the USA takes me from Brindisi (Italy) and i am in transit in Zurich and London why would Italy not be the country to control my passport when i leave Brindisi.  If u r correct then i need to get an extension while i am here in italy.

I would suggest to apply for an extension, especially if you have the time to do so. The trend is that the 90 days rule is enforced more and more often and people are screened more thoroughly, especially now with all the terrorist attacks, migration problems, etc.
