The invasion of Iraq gave tremendous political clout for any Bush proposals.

Anyone involved with weapons made a tremendous amount of money.

Any of them with investments in oil futures made off like bandits.

I doubt that the Bush administration or Mr. Bush himself profitted directly from the war in the Middle East, but their cronies such as Blackwater, Halliburton, Exxon, Carlysle, and others have profitted tremendously, laughing all the way to the bank, at the expense of the US taxpayers and at the missery of the Iraqui people.

There is however another question, what will happen after USA leaves Iraq?

Some sources say that approximately 70% of monies spent in Iraq went back to Americans, but not the Joe the Plumber kind of guy.

The monies are nicely and safely kept by the contractors who have been contracted by Ch.e.n.e.y. and cronies. Do not forget, Cheney has (or used to have) stocks in Halliburton.

There is also the northern oil fields. The estimated value is some 2 trillion dollars.
