I'm a U.S. citizen planning taking a year off of work to travel the world.

I would mainly like to reside in Spain and travel outside the schengen area periodically to avoid overstaying my visa.

In order to avoid over-staying my 90 day tourist visa within 180 days, I'm trying to plan accordingly in order to avoid over-staying my visa.

Will the plan below satisfy the 90/180 rule?

January 25th - March 25th:
Stay in Spain and visit neighboring countries (Denmark, Austria, Hungary)
59 days in Schengen Zone

March 25th - May 10th:
Visit Thailand or Japan
46 days in Non-Schengen Country

May 10th - June 1st:
Visit Spain & Portugal
22 days in Schengen Zone

June 1st - July 25th:
Visit Thailand or Japan
54 days in Non-Schengen Country

July 26th - October 26th:
Visit Spain & Greece
92 days in Schengen Zone

No.

October 26th is your departure date. On this date, you look 180 days back, this is your 180-days period. This period starts on April 29th. Between April 29th and October 26th, you plan on spending the following days in the Schengen zone:

May 10th - June 1st:
Visit Spain & Portugal
23 days in Schengen Zone

July 26th - October 26th:
Visit Spain & Greece
93 days in Schengen Zone

The total is 116 days. You overstay by 26 days.
