Hi, I'm currently living in Australia on a permanent resident visa. I have a South African passport. Do I need a Shengen Visa to travel to Italy & France?
One of the websites i searched, i found that "residents of australia" do not need Shengen visas. Does this mean i dont need one? Or because of my passport i do still need one?

Thanks.

It looks like you need Schengen visa. See here Who needs Schengen visa. The requirement to have Schengen visa when visiting the Schengen zone depends on a persons nationality or citizenship, not on your residency. The permanent residency status means very little when it comes to entering a 3rd country. If you were to receive Australian Citizenship, then you would be able to travel to the Schengen zone visa free. At this point it goes by your South African citizenship.
