Hey I have a question regarding the tourist visa in the Schengen countries. Here is the case; i am a Chilean National so I will get the visa on arrival. I will be arriving at  the 20 of februari and after 60 days i will leave to go to England. So my question is: does the non-entry period for 90 days start after I leave to England? Or does the the non-entry period of 90 days always start after 180 days when you enter a Schengen country? I am asking for this because after a 90 days visit in England I want to return to the Schengen countries.....

Thanks allot

The 180 days period starts counting on February 20th and ends on August 19th (February 20th + 180 days). If you leave to the UK on April 21st (February 20th + 60 days), you will have used up 60 days of your 90 days quota. You can come back from the UK during the summer, but you can spend at most up to 30 days by the August 19th. Do not take the dates for granted, I am just doing the math quickly, verify after me, I am bad at math.  Smiley

It is not that "after 180 days". You have to look at it as a moving timeframe. Any time "when you look 180 days back", you can spend a max of 90 days in the Schengen zone. So it is not that you get a fresh new 90 days on some certain date. It depends on when you come, when you leave, how long you stay, and then it changes as the time goes.

See here for a quote from the Schengen Acquis (the law that sets the 90/180 rule): 90/180 rule

Hope that helps.

Thanks allot. So if i understand it good it is possible to be 90 days in ANY 180 days. So in a consecutive period of 360 days its possible to spend 180 days in the Schengen zone if 90 are spend in one 180 days and the other 90 in the next 180 days? I am confused because the dutch embassy in Santiago just told me that between the 180 should be a period of 3 months aswell!!!

I am not aware of such rule. If the dutch embassy gives weird answer, try another embassy of another state. The rules are the same for all Schengen states. So the answer you get at one embassy should be the same as at other embassies. What one embassy tells you, you can verify by calling embassies of other countries.

Yeah I think aswell that they donĀ“t no what the are talking about. Wellone last question....  if after the first 180 days are fishined and I have spend only 90 days or less in the Europe zone can I just stay for the next 90 days in the next 180 days? Or do I have to leave the Schengen zone and get back to get my passport stamped again??

Thanks allot
