I am an American, and I have been living in Poland for one year with a temporary Polish residence card. On October 17, that card will expire. I would like to extend my stay in Poland until December, but I don't want to apply for a new card. Is it possible for me to leave the Schengen zone (or the EU?) when my card expires, and then re-enter to stay for 90 days as a tourist? Is this legal?
