Dear All,
I'm a non European who is passing 1 year in Lisbon (Portugal) as a researcher. My visa is valid for 1 year until May, 2012 and it's of type "D" with multiple entrance but it's valid for Portugal and I don't have residence card.
I want to travel to some other countries in schengen area, I want to know if I have to apply for another visa from each country that I want to travel? or I can go to the schengen area with this visa without applying for another visa?
I would be really grateful if you can help me.

I see you posted your question twice. There is no need to doublepost. Your answer depends on whether you are in general required to have type C visa for stays under 90 days or not. That goes by your citizenship. In other words, aside from your current stay, let's say you were not in Portugal right now, and you were in your home country - would you be required to have Schengen visa even if you wanted to visit for example Germany for one week? If yes, then you would need visa in your current case too.

Thanks for your reply, and sorry for double posting my question, because I am new in this site so I made a mistake.
