Duration of stay

İ got a single entry estat schengen visa from france. İt is valid until 26 march. İ know single entry means i cant leave and get back in, but i can travel in between without getting out. The problem is duration of stay is 4 days, does that mean i can spend 4 days in france and 2 in norway etc or is it 4 in total?
