A good friend arrived to Spain on the last day of their schengen visa being valid ( Jan. 25. 2017 )
He is a Ukraine citizen . Today being Jan 31, 2017 ..Can he get a extension there in Spain , without having to return to Ukraine ?
& if so , what are the procedures ? He is there now 6 days over the valid time allowed  .. Can that present a major problem ?  Thank you ...

Hi hawkonefun, yes, an extension to Schengen visa is possible as it is defined by the Visa code (Regulation (EC) No 810/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council) in CHAPTER V (Modification of an issued visa), Article 33 (Extension). You also need to know that to obtain an extension, special circumstances apply. You can read more about Schengen visa extension in this thread:

Good luck.
