Multiple entry Schengen visa

hi, just need to understand something. I have a Visa that says type C, Multiple entry  and validity is 1/11/2011. Does it mean the visa is valid till 1st November or i must enter eurpean state before 1 Nov? please can someone help!

1/11/2011 is the last day on which you must leave the Schengen zone.
